Adventure is what I live for on this planet. This can be from anything mechanical to magical mountain ranges to swimming in the waters with wild sharks or riding motorcycles around the world. I love the extremes so in my life anything goes. Let the temp fall to -20 and you will still find me out and about on my motorcycle in these freezing conditions. Then there's places such as French Polynesia where the wonderful Tip Sharks live by the millions. While every other person goes to view the sharks from a glass bottom boat I simply jump into the waters between them and swim with them. Then places such as India and its mighty high cliff roads. While everyone stays away from the cliff edge, here is me riding with one hand and holding my camera right over the edge of the cliff. Most think I am mad and somehow I agree!! Then there is the touring side of me. One day i just decide to board my motorcycle and head. Two weeks later I find myself in Turkey or Norway or somewhere stunning like that.

Today we headed out and hoped to get to Mangart Saddle. Sadly the top of the pass was once again "Closed"!! This is my 5th time trying to get up there!! After that we headed on into Italy and visited a few wonderful waterfalls etc

Today was to be the first ever 5" gauge steam meeting (so I believe) in Slovenia. It was held at the Gozdna železnica Raka (Forest Railway, Raka) Quite a good number of locomotives turned up for the occasion and a great day was had by all

Today we were hoping to make it to the top of the great Mangart Pass to Mangart Saddle at over 2000mtr. Sadly once again the road was blocked by snow and so the highest we reached was Koča na Mangrtskem sedlu at1906 mtr. Sadly it was wet virtually all day but we still had a great trip

On this day I took my large 7.25" gauge to the Gozdna železnica (Forest Railway)Railway in Raka, Slovenia as a test run. It was to be my first big run with one of my locomotives in Slovenia. The curves were a little too sharp for my 4-6-2 SAR class 10 but she managed no problem and as per usual went great all weekend.

Today I boarded my Royal Enfield motorcycle and headed for wonderful Lake Bled where I took one of the paddle boats to Bled Island. After that I headed back down towards Podbrdo but ended up stopping at a ski resort and climbed to the top of Lajnar Mountain where the views were simply out of this world

Each year on 1st May a parade of mopeds and other modes of transport leave the village of Pečine and ride around the area and villages in aid of charity. This year was no different from normal and about 80 contestants turned up. It was a great trip and we all as usual ended up at the local pub after.

Today was yet another test ride day aboard my Royal Enfield Classic 500. Just like last week she passed with flying colours and we managed just over 200 miles. We ended up riding across the mountains and finally ending up at Rakov Skocjan caves and Predjamski grad Castle which was just amazing

Winter had returned and so it was time to test ride my troublesome Enfield Classic 500. I decided to head up the mountain to Kobala and once there I decided to trust the bike and head even further all the way to Razor. Not a good place to test ride an unreliable motorcycle as if it did decide to give up I would have a mighty long way to walk for help. Thankfully the bike went great.

what tires did you ware? stock ones or some endure type?
I use Heidenau snow tyres all year round
I dont believe steam locomotives are obsolete, we just got way into diesel and electric locos for their ease of activating
The big problem in todays world is getting the younger generation to work steam. Its hard work and something most of todays youngsters do not know. Diesels & electrics are sit back and get fat machines
I rode the Alps in Italy & Switzerland and loved it. I have some videos also. I love the mountain

Kev, how is the playback on your screen?? Watching this it is so poor I can hardly even see the other bikes. Perhaps its my internet or screen but its bloody poor
Interesting video, the type of roads I like to ride. The video playback quality is not the best but still enjoyable to watch.

Oh it has been shared hundreds of times. That day John and i left Kimberley about 30 minutes late so went like the clappers to make up time. At 1 minute on clip we are racing through Witput with regulator open. Normally we would be coasting through there but as I say we wanted to get to De Aar on time and sure enough we did. Probably the fastest trip I ever had on any steam loco on that line

The 19C (to me) sounds slightly different to the 19D, because of the rotary cam valve gear , you don’t hear the admission valve sliding across , only the pistons driving the wheels 🤔🤔
I really hope this new Government of National Unity and the New Transport minister can turn around our railways , we have the most scenic branch lines that can be hauled by steam on excursions like THF used to do . The tourism influx and creation of local jobs would be immense

I'm just glad Red Devil got saved. The most efficient Northern on the planet deserved to live on. Hard to believe she's 71 years old now!
your not joking. Lets hope she remains in preservation forever. I am so glad I worked her so many times in steam days. She was a great loco to work
@@AdventurescotI can imagine and I envy you. The only Northerns that could hold a candle to Red Devil's efficiency are the S1 Niagaras and the S2 Super Niagara from the old New York Central Railroad. They were only around for 11 years in service and Red Devil was in service for 50 years. She was as old as some of the 4-4-0 Americans like General and Jupiter when they were withdrawn.
@@user-tp7up8lg1d yes that's very true. I have models of Red Devil and Niagaras etc and love the lot of them. I often think the 25s on SAR were copies of the Niagras but have a feeling it was the opposite way around. Think the Niagaras were copies of the 25NCs. These big SAR Northerns just went forever. They would fly along that narrow gauge track at hi speed all day & night without any problem. I loved working them
@@Adventurescot How can the Niagaras be copies when the Class 25 Northerns came along almost 10 years after the NYC made their Super Northerns?
@@user-tp7up8lg1d no no, I don't mean they are copies in the respect that one copied another. What I mean is that so many modern parts were put into these two classes of locos that are virtually the same design. Pistons with the 5 or 6 piece rings, single slidebars, roller bearings etc. Both were extremely ultra modern machines and had many very similar designed parts

It sure is open for cars and plenty places to stop along the way. I'm still not sure if its open to the summit yet though. You also need to pay at the barriers half way up

A very hospitable reception at the railway there. The incline was a test for the locomotives but very skilful driving of the various drivers. Nice to see the kids involved and learning how to operate a steam engine.

Bongo the male African lion was a resident of the Bowmanville Zoo in Clarington, Ontario, Canada at the time of this cinematic production. He subsequently performed with Charlie Sammut's two captive male African lions, Joseph and Kaleb in "George of the Jungle".
Bongo was an amazing Lion. As per usual like with most animals I made friends with him and often sat getting big cuddles from him.

Kev, I'm riding my Classic from Scotland to Slovenia in May/June but will be taking the long scenic road via Harz, Dresden and Alps. I normally take 3 days but this time I say about 10
